Description

This new family of anseriformes of the Allocene period can be found all over South America and southern North America. Noticeably larger and more light built than their anatid ancestors, they resemble the extinct presbyornithid birds. They feed mainly on tiny aquatic molluscs, insects, microscopic crustacea, phytoplankton and duckweed, using their specialized bill as a filtering device.
These birds are usually very bright colored, especially male individuals.

The species featured here is the cuychi* Cuychi poenicans, a big-sized and fairly short-necked form living in the Andean range.

*Cuychi is the name for rainbow in Quechua

It took me a long time to make this illustration and so far I'm very proud of it.

Where the hell have you been all these years? Oh, not on a personal level, I mean your art! This is my kinda works, and Dragontunders did a great job making a clever convergent evolution to the descendant of certain duck species.
